Travel is one of those activities that that usually gives rise to queries, concerns and doubts and calls for dire preparation. To most travelers, Africa is one big block of land. Well, many countries together all beautiful and unique with special travel news, requirements and experiences.

Lightweights and rainwear, with warm wraps, especially in mountainous/hilly environments, for the evenings are advised. The region has mild winters and the summer days can get quite hot. Lightweight casual clothes can be worn all year round, with a jersey for early winter mornings and evenings. On safari keep clothes to a minimum and mostly of neutral color – khakis, browns and greens. A sunhat, sunglasses, sunscreen and insect repellant are considered a need.

If you intend to have a self drive, visiting drivers must hold an International Drivers License that allows you to drive in any other country you visit. New residents will be required to pass a driving test. If you are on business or doing a self drive, ensure to show that the car belongs to you or the company and you do not intent to use it for commercial purposes so that you do not have to pay car duty. Uganda and Kenya drives on the left hand side of the road. Rwanda drives on the right-hand side of the road.

When you make an inquiry, one of our representatives will get back to you in not more than 24 hours. We will answer all your queries and when you have confirmed your travel arrangements, we will send you a final itinerary with a full quotation.

After a few days, our representative will send you an invoice with full amount and a need to deposit 30% of total tour or Safari cost. The deposit is made so that crucial payments are made for site visits and activities that need advance payments.

JSA will keep in touch with you on news and more ways to enjoy your tour, travel notes. 40 days prior to start of your tour, the 70% should be deposited after which we shall send you a booking form which you should fill and return and send us your flight details. Two days prior to departure, you need to send your final flight details and flight number. JSA will stay in radar to track your flight progress.

If you sent in the correct flight details, our driver or guide will be waiting for you at the arrivals with a placard and your name well written in it. He will meet and greet you and lead you to the car. He will proceed with the program as agreed during the final booking. You may proceed to the hotel or with a site visit.  At the hotel, the hotel will ensure your comfort and we will work with them hand in hand to ensure you enjoy your stay.

After your booking has been confirmed, should you wish to make any changes to your itinerary or wish an earlier departure date, we will make every effort to accommodate your requests based on availability. However, there may be extra costs involved to accommodate your request. These costs are in addition to the fee quoted to you for your initial safari. Normal cancellation fees apply if you wish to postpone your departure.

Although every effort is made to adhere to schedules it should be borne in mind that the Company reserves the right to occasionally change routes and camps/lodges on safaris as dictated by changing conditions. Such conditions may be brought about by seasonal rainfall on bush tracks, airfields and in game areas, by game migrations from one region to another, or airline or other booking problems, etc

We are open on Mondays to Saturdays but also operate half days in Sundays for booking issues.

USD, GBP and Euros are dominant and highly encouraged when traveling to Uganda.  Most payments are made in dollars and in Uganda shillings, Kenya shillings, Tanzania shillings and Rwandan Francs. Although other currencies like pounds and Euros are known, the US dollars still remains a larger currency for extra payments when travelling. Most banks operate from Monday to Friday from 08h30 to 17h00 and from 9h00 to 12h30. The banks offer currency exchange services which can as well be found in forex exchange bureau in the cities. It’s also advisable to convert some cash just in case. It is not advisable to move around with a lot of money. Banking services are very developed. Electronic funds transfers, RTGS take just 24-48 hours, money transfer services through Western union, money gram, world remit are available in the cities. Credit cards are widely acceptable and Visa card s can be used in Visa Automated teller machines all over the region.

When converting money, it is important to remember to have a valid passport and smaller denominations sometimes get a lower exchange rate. There are just a few restrictions to how much money you can bring into the country.

It’s totally normally to have a flight that lands at midnight and wee hours of the morning. In such cases, we shall arrange with the hotel to send you a driver to pick you up at the airport, alternatively if the time is from 3h00, our guide can come pick you up and take you to the hotel for freshening as your proceed with your journey.

Our drivers will drive you to the airport if it is not later than midnight. If the check in time is after midnight, we work with hotels near the airport.  When your Safari ends and the JSA guide says goodbye at the hotel, the hotel will drop you off at the airport for your flight back home.

We accept MasterCard, Visa, Wire transfers, Money Order Bank Drafts and Mobile Money services like Safaricom Mpesa. During the safari or tour, some hotels accept use of credit cards (kindly note that this is for extras) and its encouraged to use Ugandan currency to purchase souvenirs that are in Ugandan, Kenyan, Tanzanian shilling or Rwandan Francs and dollars for souvenirs in dollars.

Please be aware that these safaris may take you into close contact with wild animals. Attacks by wild animals are rare, but no safari into the African wilderness can guarantee that this will not occur. Neither James Safaris Africa, nor their employees, can be held responsible for any injury or incident on the safari. Please note that most safari camps in Africa are not fenced and it is important to follow the lodges, camps or driver guides rules.
